Stephen has been interested in science fiction for as long as he can remember and has had a passion for writing nearly as long, a passion that adolescent shyness and poor academic achievement could not quash.
Born and raised in Basingstoke he has since lived in Reading, Las Cruces New Mexico, Boston Massachusetts, Wales and Bristol (the last being where Star Fire is mostly set).
Stefan Lomax, a character in Star Fire, first made an appearance in a story that he wrote whilst still at school and the universe in which he exists has matured over the intervening years which he hopes is reflected in both the novel’s depth, texture and flavour.
He is currently employed as an eTrading Consultant for an Insurance company, a broker facing, field based business development role which he has worked hard for and which has equipped him with the type of negotiation, interpersonal and relationship management skills which, during his formative years, seemed about as distant as faster than light travel and matter transmission seem today.
His hobbies include Kung Fu, yoga, keeping fit, and collecting experiences both for their own sake and for that of making him a better person and writer. Those collected so far include, but are not limited to skydiving over Wiltshire, caving in New Zealand, experiencing the world’s fastest zip wire, racing dune buggies in Portugal, snowmobiling in Iceland and camping in the Cairngorms.
Stephen loves to travel and can include France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Iceland, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand among the countries he has visited.
Stephen cares about the environment, animal welfare, children, education, healthcare, human rights, science, technology and social services.
Stephen currently lives with his wife, Judith, and his daughter Eloisa in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire.
